About Ambergris Caye

Moving to a new area can be an exciting experience especially if you are moving to Ambergris Caye. Ambergris Caye is 25 miles long and just off the coast of Belize in  Central America. Belize is bordered by Mexico to the West, and Guatemala to the South. Ambergris Caye is the largest of the many islands that make up Belize.

This beautiful western Caribbean location comprises a myriad of atolls, lagoons, mangroves, and spectacular marine life centered around the world's second largest barrier reef.  Belize has a population of approximately 280,000 people with English being the official language, also with a mixture of  Spanish and Creole.

Climate

The climate all year round is hot and sunny except in June when it is considered to be rainy season. The temperature around the mid 80s and water temperature ranging from 79-83. Dry season is through November to May, while Rainy season is  June to November.

Getting Around

Transportation is primarily by golf cart, however bicycles and taxis are the most convenient ways to get around.

Dress

Dress code is beachwear -the island is very informal. Only if you want to attend a special function will casual dress be more appropriate.

Shopping

If you are interested in taking a stroll and shop, then most places open for business at 8a.m, close for lunch at midday, reopen at 1 p.m., then close for the day at 5 p.m.
It is important to note that Banks close every day on the Island at 3:00 p.m., though they do remain open until 4:30 p.m. on Fridays.
